Here’s a look at California’s drought map — and how it compares to this time last year

Although Thursday’s drought monitor report shows a dry California, KCRA 3 meteorologist Dirk Verdoorn says it’s not quite as dry as it was this time last year.

April has seen some spring rain and snow, but that still hasn’t helped to reach normal levels for the month.

The drought monitor map shows areas of extreme drought stretching from the northern mountains of California, all the way down to the Valley and into the surrounding foothills.

Severe drought is also seen throughout the Sierra and along the coast.

As compared to last year, California has no “exceptionally” dry areas, as of Thursday. This time in 2021, exceptionally dry areas were seen in the state’s desert areas……more here
