Cases of flu-like respiratory illness rising in US
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is reportedly spreading in the southern US.
The virus is particularly dangerous for young children, American online magazine Self reported citing a health advisory by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The disease is reportedly mild but can cause serious sickness in vulnerable populations such as babies, young kids, and older adults.
The report was released as the death toll from the Covid pandemic rose to more than 600,000 people
Covid-19 infections are rising in at least eight US states as some Americans refuse to get vaccinated., according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
This is while American authorities are racing to vaccinate more people as vaccine hesitancy remains an issue in the United States.
More than half of the population have received at least one shot of a Covid-19 vaccine and 43 of the people are reportedly fully vaccinated.
Covid deaths in the US peaked in January at a daily average of more than 3,000 fatalities.
