US ‘world’s biggest source of instability and aggression’: Scholar

The United Sates resorts to naked aggression against independent nations, either directly or through the use of proxy forces, when all else fails, says Dennis Etler, an American political analyst who has a decades-long interest in international affairs.

China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Saturday criticized Washington’s one-sided approach to world politics and its adversarial attitude towards Beijing.

“It (the US) has already become the world’s biggest destabilizing factor,” China’s Foreign Ministry cited the top diplomat as saying on the sidelines of a Group of 20 ministerial meeting in the city of Nagoya in southern Japan.

He went on to explain how Washington’s policies were making waves across the international stage, saying, “The United States is broadly engaged in unilateralism and protectionism, and is damaging multilateralism and the multilateral trading system,” Wang noted. “There is no way out for the zero-sum games of the United States,” he asserted.

The official then enumerated instances of the ill-intentioned measures that Washington was taking against Beijing.

China: US ‘world’s biggest source of instability’China’s foreign minister lashes out at the US over Washington’s one-sided approach to world politics.

In an interview with Press TV on Monday, Etler, a former professor of Anthropology at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California, Professor Etler said, “The Chinese Foreign Minister has been too equanimous in condemning the US as the ‘world’s biggest source of instability’. Due to diplomatic niceties, he did not mention the flagrant violations of international law that the US engages in on a daily basis.”

“It is no secret that the US uses all means at its disposal to intervene in the affairs of other countries in order to create a world order subservient to its will. It uses all the weapons at its command. First and foremost is economic aggression, the application of economic sanctions against foreign nations to create economic hardship that will be exploited to foment discord and instability in the targeted country,” he stated.

“It will then use its propaganda arm, the Western news, and social media to spread disinformation to heighten internal tensions. It will enlist fifth columnists who hope to gain power and riches by becoming US clients. Many corrupt politicians use the instability generated by US economic warfare to further their own political careers without any concern for their country’s national sovereignty and dignity, hoping to become willing partners in crime with the imperialists,” he noted.

“Finally, the US will support its clients in the armed forces, the local media and among the comprador class of the targeted country to stage either a soft legislative coup as in Brazil or a more direct military coup as recently in Bolivia. The US is very adept at manipulating the political process in other countries while at the same time decrying foreign influences on its own system of oligarchic rule under the guise of ‘democracy,’” he said

“When all else fails the US will resort to naked aggression, either directly or through the use of proxy forces, to wreak havoc and create failed states as it has done in Iraq and Libya and has attempted to do in Yemen and Syria. It matters nothing to the rulers in Washington, be they Democrats, Republicans or whatever, that millions have died or been forced into exile as refugees because of their actions,” he said.

“Unfortunately, the US has succeeded more often than not in destabilizing nations and imposing its rule over them. Their greatest victory, of course, was the dismemberment of the Soviet Union. They hope to repeat that victory in China, Iran and wherever else a nation challenges US hegemony, but they have bitten off more than they can chew and will face inevitable defeat at the hands of the world’s people,” the analyst concluded.
