U.S. Military Use of IMF, World Bank

Wikileaks has proven time and again to release completely authentic documents. As of late they have published a report from the U-S military. It outlines the U-S armys unconventional military strategy in dealing with countries Washington considers adversaries.

The leaked document has been described as the U-S militarys regime change handbook. Essentially it points out how the U-S uses major global financial institutions, which are supposed to be independent, as weapons of war. The information dates back to 2008 but has been highlighted by Wikileaks in light of the recent events in Venezuela.

The N-G-O is also seeking to highlight the years-long U-S economic siege of Venezuela through sanctions and other types of economic warfare. Organizations like the IMF give loans to countries when they are going through a cycle of economic turmoil. The loans come with pre-conditions on the nations economic policies.

These conditions force governments to implement austerity measures, higher taxes, lower spending, which usually lead to a rise in anti-government sentiment and street protests. Just like the I-M-F, the World Bank has also been criticized for lending money to nations with heavy conditions.

These conditions focus on austerity measures that affect the poor and allow big corporations to flourish. Last year, the I-M-F gave another Latin American country, Argentina, more than 50-billion-dollars in loans. Argentines are still angry about the last loan deal struck with the I-M-F, one of the worst in history.

People in Argentina have staged regular protests against another government deal with the I-M-F. The Argentines can feel the austerity measures on the horizon: cuts to social assistance, subsidies and employment levels. Just to name a few.
