Desperate India and Pakistan residents FLEE homes as fears of World War Three intensify

HUNDREDS of residents from the border of India and Pakistan have been forced to flee their homes as heavy-shelling between the two rival countries continues to intensify, it has been reported.

Exchanges of fire in the Uri sector between the Asian nations has hit a 15 year high with fears that relative peace in the region could be over.Nasir Ahmad Naqash, deputy commissioner of northern Baramulla district, said: “More than 1,000 villagers have fled their homes due to the shelling.

“Many people have been provided shelter in the campus by the government while others have gone to live with their relatives.”

Officials say that more than 15 people, including civilians, have been killed in the Uri sector as well as houses being damaged.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has accused India of killing 12 people in the area.Describing the increasing violence Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary, a Senior Administration Official, from the border town of Rajouri, said: “The ceasefire violations have continued since May last year, but there was a sudden rise from January this year.

“More than 600 people continue to remain in camps due to the fear.”
