US seeks to monopolize Afghan natural resources, not interested in security: Analyst

A commentator believes the United States is not seeking to maintain security in Afghanistan, adding that its main goal is to “monopolize” the natural resources of the war-torn country.

“Before the US came in, there was a relative stability, it was relatively peaceful, far more peaceful than it is now and the US occupation has objectively made it worse. US interference in the region has also managed to cause ISIS (Daesh) to move into Afghanistan as well which is another major security threat, one that is directly caused by the United States itself. The United States’ main goal in this situation is to capture the resources that is under the soil of the Afghan countryside,” Jason Unruhe told Press TV in an interview on Saturday.

The comments came after a senior Iranian diplomat said the US-led invasion of Afghanistan has merely led to the deterioration of the security situation in the Asian country, urging enhanced economic ties with Kabul to pave the way for an international fight against terrorism there.
