The Chiefs of General Staff of Russia, Iran and Turkey reportedly agreed in Sochi on Tuesday to coordinate efforts in fighting Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) and other terrorist groups in Syria.

Concrete steps have been developed to fully eliminate terrorist groups, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The military also agreed to step up coordination in the de-escalation zone in Idlib, it said.

Moscow, Ankara and Tehran earlier brokered a truce between the government and rebels in four areas in Syria, including Idlib.

The presidents of the three states are meeting in Sochi on Wednesday to discuss Syria.
