Everyone knows that the US stands as the biggest impediment to Syria peace

Syria has announced a nationwide halt to fighting in a move that could promote the diplomatic efforts aimed at ending years of Takfiri violence in the Arab state.

The ceasefire came one week after the Syrian army announced full control over Aleppo when the last remaining militants were evacuated along with civilians from the eastern sector of city under a truce deal mediated by Ankara and Moscow.

Sara Flounders, co-director of International Action Center, believes the very fact that a Syrian ceasefire agreement was reached without the participation of the United States is an extremely important development, adding that it shows Washington was the “biggest impediment” to peace all along.

“It is not certainly the end of this war and I think the US efforts of destabilization in the entire region will very much continue and that is a real danger we need to be aware of,” the analyst told Press TV in an interview on Saturday.

She also noted the success of the Syrian government to drive the terrorists out of the strategic northwestern city of Aleppo and to hold a ceasefire is “enormously important”.

However, she said, the terrorist groups who attempt to pull Syria apart will use everything possible to achieve their goal.

This came after Takfiri Daesh terrorists cut off the water supply from two pumping stations on the Euphrates to the east of the city of Aleppo.

Flounders further stated the reason why Turkey has took part in this recent truce is that the attempts to overthrow the government in Damascus have failed.

According to the analyst, the Middle Eastern countries have to re-evaluate their stance and to recognize that the plans to totally destroy Syria have failed.
