The BRICS Security Advisors will discuss the security issues which threaten the BRICS region. They will discuss terrorist threats, especially those emanating from the Afghanistan-Pakistan region. India’s government will express its view of Pakistan-based terror groups and their role in threatening peace and stability in Asia. The Security Advisors will also discuss the threat posed by Daesh and how to counter the menace of terrorism in the Middle East.

The National Security Advisors of India and Russia will also hold bilateral talks on the sidelines of the BRICS Security Advisors meeting. There will be a discussion regarding the strengthening of the cooperation between India and Russia in terms of the defense, civil nuclear energy and space sectors. The two security advisors are also likely to discuss the emerging geo-political situation in the Middle East and Afghanistan.

Indian Security Advisor Ajit Doval will also have a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi on the sidelines of the meeting and is likely to discuss the South China Sea and the border issue. Recently China seems to be appreciative of India’s stand on the South China Sea issue. During the meeting, India will put stress on its earlier stance that peace and tranquility along the India-China border is essential to maintaining cordial relations between the two countries.
