The vehicle fell into a massive sinkhole which almost swallowed the car
Passers-by used an improvised rope to rescue the family from disaster
Sewer water began to fill up the car just as the family was being rescued

These are the dramatic scenes as a family of three are rescued from a giant sinkhole which swallowed their car as they drove through Trujillo in Peru.

The family’s car was swallowed by the 16 foot sinkhole which appeared underneath them them without any warning as they drove along the road.
Witnesses videoed the dramatic rescue as passers by risked their lives to assist the family.

The front of the car rested precariously against the edge of the hole after the car entered the void, rear end first.
Several of the passers by lay down on the edge of the round hole to assist the family in their escape.

The dramatic video shows one of the rescuers hang on a make-shift length of rope which had been tied to the front door of the car. The man, who is laying flat on the tarmac, holds open the door of the car while his fellow rescuers assist the rest of the family.
The footage shows the woman climb up through the car. The woman grabs a second improvised rope and clambers through the the side window, up through the door and to safety……more here
