Earthquake: Magnitude 3.4 quake strikes near Idyllwild
A shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported Saturday morning southwest of Palm Springs, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred in the San Jacinto Mountains of Riverside County at 3:43 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 1.2 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was five miles from Idyllwild, eight miles from Valle Vista, 12 miles from Hemet and 18 miles from Palm Springs.
In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
