Strong storms hit northern Triangle counties

 Note: It just continues beating her up. Somewhere around the nation she is being beating by the forces of nature. There is not let up. She is gripped by this thing.

SOME WAKE COUNTY RESIDENTS CLEAN UP FOLLOWING STRONG STORMS

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) — It was a noisy night Saturday across parts of central North Carolina with strong storms packing thunder and lightning, heavy rains, and winds.

Much of the severe weather was confined to areas from Wake County and north.

Saturday night’s storm sent several trees crashing onto cars and two home on Pine Drive in eastern Wake County around 8 p.m.

Strong storms left a large clean-up in parts of Wake County.
No one was hurt, but the mess people discovered when the sun came up, was devastating.

“I’m so sad. I don’t know,” said Huong Nguyen.

Nguyen has lived in her home nestled in the trees on Pine Drive with her family, for 20 years. The family of five, thankfully, was at a church event and not home when the storm hit.

“It seemed like two to three minutes and it was all over,” said Rick Cunningham, who lives just two houses down from Nguyen.

The storm toppled trees onto his garage, his home and his pick-up truck, which was about to get a new windshield this week but now it sits crushed under a tree.

“I was right there in that window and was looking at the wind to see what was going on out here. I see a branch come across and all of a sudden I see my truck bounce,” said Cunningham.

Both families have spent this Father’s Day cleaning up in the heat. While Cunningham waits for insurance to help with the rest, Nguyen said she’s relying on help from her church.
