The whole West Coast Of America Is bowing into submission under the weight of “The Terrific Drought”

Greetings,

8EQ6F0QCalifornia is not the only State in the union that has fallen headlong into the judgment of America. From Arizona to Oregon there is dread as the forces of nature destroys crops and causes higher food prices.

The state of Washington has already been forced to declare a state of emergency as the forces of nature pound them into submission….

Washington State Declares Drought Emergency

by Craig
California is not the only state suffering from a drought as recent information that Governor Jay Inslee declared drought emergency for 3 areas in Washington. The snow pack is 7% of normal which is too low for the Washington state. Populated places like Seattle experience abundant precipitation compared to most locations in California so any deficit is never good for the Pacific Northwest.

However, an El Nino had recently developed and usually the Pacific Northwest experiences dry conditions during El Nino years. It’s too far to make a forecast but if El Nino strengthens and lingers through next winter, the Pacific Northwest could be entering one of its worst drought in years.

What does the dry weather mean for Washington? It means economical and agriculture impact could be prolonged and may become worst if El Nino can intensity and stay for a year. This should put the worries on California too because this shows this drought is wide spread almost like the 1930’s Dust Bowl.

ENSO (El Nino Southern Oscillation) has nothing to do with this, we are looking at a much persistent large teleconnection pattern that is causing this drought. El Nino and La Nina are large scale affects to but they have much shorter life spans than PDO (Pacific Decadal Oscillation) and AMO (Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation). PDO and AMO are some of the biggest teleconnection patterns that affects remote places and can last a decade or more.

Since around the start of the 21st century, 2002, California and southwest states have begun to see a decline in rainfall and that decline has begun to spread into the northwest around 2010. While this would need research, I have suspicions we are seeing PDO working to affect meteorological patterns that are causing a wide spread drought and intensify. Even though the PDO is recently change to warm phase late last year, but the atmosphere is still in negative PDO phase mode. It could be a while before we gradually see a shift to a typical positive PDO phase. Washington state and rest of the west could be in for a long ride…..More Here

And guest what? It still isn’t getting any easier or better for the state of California:

More of California now in ‘exceptional drought’

The historic drought that has gripped California since 2011 shows no signs of easing.

In fact, it has gotten a tad worse, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor’s weekly summary of drought conditions.

“Exceptional drought” conditions, the report’s worst drought category, has expanded across Lassen and Modoc counties, near the Oregon border. More than 44% of California is now suffering from “exceptional” conditions, which is characterized by widespread crop and pasture losses, and shortages of water in reservoirs, streams and wells….More Here
