The falling away: US, EU ‘parting ways’ on Russia strategy

Greetings,

partHow can you continue to deny such clear and evident truth being displayed before you daily? We see the workings of prophecy unfold on a global scale daily. This is that time wherein….”The beautiful and rich country of America, to which many people of Europe and Asia migrated, seeking refuge — in this country, as the prophecy is now coming into fulfillment…(“…in that day and time everyone will begin to go away from America, instead of coming to America!”)

part5As the Revelation (Bible) teaches us of the prophecy that “they will stand afar off and see the fire of her (America’s) burning and for fear of it they will lift up their hands and their voices. They will lament for her!”

America’s trade is cut off and all of her delicious and delicate things that she used to have in trade — it is all gone! In one hour (one day) it came to pass, here in the Western Hemisphere!”-Chp.60(tfoa)

The European Union and the United States are beginning to part ways regarding the strategy towards Russia, a journalist and political commentator says.

“There is not a lot of appetite on the part of the European Union to join the United States in any new sanctions,” said Dmitry Linnik, a journalist at Sputnik news, a newly launched international multimedia news service based in Moscow.

On Thursday, US President Barack Obama signed the Ukraine Freedom Support Act of 2014 into law, which allows for increased sanctions against Russia over its alleged involvement in Ukraine.

The fresh sanctions legislation is based “not on facts but on narratives,” Linnik told Press TV on Friday.

None of the postulating facts that were cited in the Ukraine Freedom Support Act are actually facts, “Most of them are assertions, assumptions, they’re parts of a narrative that has been built up by the West over the past year effectively since the start of dramatic events in Kiev,” Linnik stated.

He argued that the American sanctions are probably designed to mostly serve the domestic audience in the United States rather than the global audience.

European Union leaders met Thursday in Brussels to discuss a long-term strategy towards Russia.

The summit ended half a day earlier than planned with EU leaders emerging against introducing a new set of sanctions on Moscow.

Federica Mogherini, the EU’s new foreign policy chief, warned that imposing more sanctions against Russia might hurt the European economy even further.

Russia has warned that the new US bill could damage relations between the two countries “for a long time.”

In a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State John Kerry on Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov voiced concern over the new sanctions legislation.

Tensions between Washington and Moscow began to escalate in April after the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea seceded from Ukraine and reunited with the Russian Federation following a referendum a month earlier.

The US and its allies accuse Moscow of sending troops into eastern Ukraine in support of the pro-Russian forces. Russia, however, denies the accusation.
