The President of Venezuela proposed the creation an international committee of lawyers to charge the U.S. government for the wars in the Middle East and the deaths of black civilians by police.

The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, proposed on Monday to take United States government to court over war crimes.

To do so, Maduro put it to the National Assembly to create a committee, formed by Venezuelan and foreign lawyers, that would be in charge of studying human rights violations perpetrated by imperialists nations.

“I propose National Assembly to discuss this on Tuesday’s debate (…) to take to court all imperialists nations which have bombed Lybia, Iraq and Syria and that have destroyed our brothers,” said Maduro during a speech in Caracas to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Bolivarian constitution.

His remarks came amid rising tensions between U.S. and Venezuelan government for a package of sanctions against Venezuelan officials that has been approved by the lawmakers in Washington and is expected to be signed by President Barack Obama.

The economic sanctions and travel bans are aimed at Venezuelan officials who allegedly participated in the police operations of earlier this year to stop violent protests that, according to Caracas, were planned by opposition members along with U.S. government.

Maduro not only referred to the several wars that United States has staged in the recent years, especially in the Middle East but also talked about the recent civil rights violations on United States soil, where several unarmed black people have been killed by police officers.

“(Look) what happened to Chris Brown in Ferguson and Eric Garner, who was choked in New York. It is the strongest example of an imperialist police state that repress its people,” said Maduro before hundreds of followers who applauded him.

An unarmed black teenager was killed several weeks ago by a white policeman in Ferguson, Missouri and another black man choked to death by a New York police despite the victim yelling he could not breathe. Two grand juries decided not to indict them, which prompted a wave of protests all over United States.

U.S. lawmakers claim that the Venezuelan government committed human rights violations in their control of the violent protests that demanded Maduro resign, something which Venezuela has repeatedly denied.
