A northeast Indiana police officer admitted to raping a woman he arrested for drunken driving.

Officer Mark Rogers, of Fort Wayne police, pleaded guilty Thursday to sexual misconduct and official misconduct, and rape and misdemeanor false informing charges will be dismissed at his sentencing as part of an agreement with prosecutors.

The 46-year-old Rogers will serve no more than six years in prison, home detention, or work release under the terms of his plea agreement.

Rogers picked up the woman Sept. 1, 2013, while he worked on a Labor Day weekend drunken driving enforcement patrol.

The woman vomited during the arrest, and Rogers took her to an area hospital for treatment for intoxication.

The officer placed her in handcuffs after her release from the hospital and drove her to a park, where he sexually assaulted her.

Then he drove the woman home, authorities said.

Rogers was suspended without pay Sept. 16, 2013, and his current status with the department is unknown.
