Former BBC DJ, Chris Denning, has pleaded guilty to 29 counts of child sex abuses committed against boys aged between nine and 16 years old.

The 73-year-old former Radio 1 disc-jockey admitted at Southwark crown court in London on Tuesday that he committed a string of sex offenses against young boys between 1967 and 1984.

Denning, however, refused to admit guilt on a further 12 charges.

The former BBC personality is scheduled to go to trial on November 24.

He will be kept in custody until the start of the trial, said Judge Alistair McCreath.

Denning was first arrested by detectives from the sex crime inquiry Operation Yewtree in June last year.

Meanwhile, British police are investigating sex abuse allegations against the late former House of Commons speaker Lord Tonypandy, which is reported to have occurred in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Britain has been rocked by a series of pedophile scandals in the last three years, which broke out after the death of the BBC’s former presenter Jimmy Savile, who has been branded as one of UK’s most prolific known sexual predators.

Savile died in 2011 and following his death, hundreds of allegations of sex abuse and rape of minors became public.

Several high-profile figures have been arrested in connection with the multiple investigations into the abuse scandal surrounding the BBC’s former presenter.

British TV presenter Rolf Harris was sentenced to five years and nine months in prison over a string of sexual assaults on girls and young women.
