Remember that Germany is the economic and cultural, industrial, and technological powerhouse of Europe. A small portion of Germany wants to be allied with America..this portion has a lot of power and sway. There is a larger portion of Germany that wants to break free from Washington’s death grip and wants to deepen its relationship with Russia.

This is bringing about a power struggle in Germany.
