      Doctors succeed in pioneer cardiac surgery

A team of doctors from Upper Silesian Medical Centre in the polish city of Katowice succeeded in conducting a pioneer cardiac surgery treatment on Tuesday.

The conducted surgery was targeted at patients with heart failure and mitral valve defect and consisted of putting a special implant without cutting the myocardium.

The implant is made of a medical silicone and is put directly on a beating heart around it’s base.

It is a huge chance for patients with secondary mitral regurgitation, it is a good alternative to the open heart surgery as it reduces the time of the whole procedure and convalescence. Enditem
