Military conflict to split Ukraine up: Analyst

They are fighting each other. They are even warring against each other. This is a blowback effect of their wars against the aboriginal people. They cannot see it ,because they are engulfed in an atmosphere of confusion and derision.

Press TV has conducted an interview with William Beeman, professor at the University of Minnesota, to discuss Ukraine’s president threatening to take revenge on pro-Russian forces for their missile attacks.

What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Where do you see the situation going, how bad can it get with these retaliatory remarks?

Beeman: When the elections were held, we had this kind of rhetoric coming from the new Ukrainian president. And at the time, it gives me that Ukraine is headed for a civil war. And I think that this kind of inflammatory talk on the part of the Ukrainian president is not going to be helpful. Obviously, you can’t have troops killing Ukrainian citizens. That’s a terrible thing and something really has to be done.

But to make what seems like empty threats of revenge and retaliation without having any plan to do so is not wise and also launching a new kind of military conflict internally in Ukraine is going to lead to a split-up of the country. I think that something that is going to be very dangerous not only for Ukraine but for the rest of the region.

Press TV: How much is the West going to invest if you will in an all-out war with Russia?

Beeman: Not at all. The West does not have any desire to do this. Russia has a major economic support for Europe. Germany for one received large proportion of its gas from Russia and the United States has no stomach to take on Russia in some kind of a war.

I am really sorry for the Ukrainian people because they are the ones that have caused in this conflict and are likely to see much worse conditions taking place in the future.
