According to senior US defense officials, the US military is using spy drones as well as manned aircraft over Nigeria to locate more than 200 schoolgirls who were abducted on the night of April 14th in a small town in north eastern Nigeria.

Many African-American say they are highly skeptical of the US government’s sudden concern about the Nigerian girls’ plight.

Black leaders believe increased US military involvement in Africa could have disastrous consequences for the continent.

The Final Call, a widely read African-American newspaper, has criticized the calls for the US intervention in Africa.

Criticism is also coming from the black leader of the Nation of Islam group, Louis Farrakhan.

“America [is] sending our special forces troops in other nations to assassinate, to sabotage, to ambush people and missions. This is meddling, creating mischief and causing the shedding of blood,” Farrakhan told the Final Call newspaper.

Jay Espy, an organizer of the People Power Movement, says he is more concerned about what is happening to African-American children in the US.

“The children are being abducted every single day by the ACS, the Administration of Children Services. We also have to know that the NYPD and the police around the country are killing, are kidnapping, are arresting young people every single day,” Espy told Press TV.

Boko Haram — whose name means “Western education is forbidden” — says its goal is to overthrow the Nigerian government.

The group has claimed responsibility for a number of deadly gun and bomb attacks in various parts of Nigeria since 2009.

In a Wednesday article for the Press TV website, Dr. Kevin Barrett wrote that Boko Haram could be “just the latest example of a worldwide trend” of the creation of “brutal takfiri” groups to “smear Islam in service to Zionism and imperialism.”
