A Detroit blog run by a former Detroit Free Press reporter, Steve Neavling, posted photos and videos on Thursday that showed police officers in the Detroit suburb of Grosse Pointe Park humiliate and harass African-American men, The Huffington Post reported.

The Detroit blog, Motor City Muckraker, has said that police officers in Grosse Pointe Park shared the “humiliating photos and videos” with their family members and friends.

Two videos posted on the blog show officers force African-American men to sing and make animal sounds.

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Neavling has said that he has nearly a dozen similar videos but he has not posted all of them on the blog because of their “humiliating nature.”

Eighty-five percent of the population of the suburb of Grosse Pointe Park, which shares a border with Detroit, is white and nearly half of households there have an income of $100,000 or more.

However, the median household income in Detroit, where African Americans constitute 83 percent of the population, is $27,862.

Human rights activists are increasingly concerned about discriminatory tactics used by US police against minorities.

Video posted on YouTube on September 30, 2013, showed police officers in Philadelphia detain two African-American men under stop-and-frisk policies just because they say “Hi” to a third man on the street.

Also in New York City, the New York Police Department is continuing with its stop-and-frisk program while a federal court ruled in August that the policy violates New Yorkers’ constitutional rights.

Meanwhile, a recent report showed last month that Los Angeles police officers trained police dogs to bite minorities. According to the report, all of the police dog bite victims in the first six month of this year were blacks and Latinos.
