  By the hour it is becoming even more dreadful. Production and industry in America is being cut off. The people cannot find any work to do, and those who have some work are fearful that anytime, they could be cut off from work and be added to the millions who are suffering from unemployment and poverty.

  My beloved people, America is in trouble and if you refuse to hear the truth and then execute that truth in your life, then you too are in trouble. Incase you don’t know, this is the end of America.

         Mass layoffs expected in Chicago

       Chicago will lose more than 5,600 jobs by the end of the year as grocery giant Safeway has announced that it is exiting the city’s market, a report said on Monday.

Seventy-two Dominick’s stores are up for sale but only four have buyers, according to the World Socialist Web Site. A memo circulated to employees on October 31 announcing that unsold stores will be closed on December 28, it added.

Dominick’s parent company Safeway, the second-largest grocery chain in North America, announced in October that it will sell or close 72 of its stores, which are within the Chicago city or in the suburbs, because of poor financial performance.

Despite it being evident that the remaining Dominick’s stores are likely to close, the Chicago politicians have been silent on the potentially devastating impact of the mass layoffs and the diminished access to food in the region. A major part of Chicago has no full-sized supermarkets.

Inequality in the city continues to reach new heights in the five years since the 2008 financial crash, the WSWS said.

According to the report, Whole Foods and Mariano’s are building stores in the Chicago area, in high-income and gentrifying areas, like the near North Side, South Loop, and Lincoln Park. But poorer areas and suburbs are most at risk from loss of a full-sized grocery store.

Average Americans and the poor have increasingly been suffering from economic woes since the 2008 financial crisis.

The Financial Times reported earlier that more than 1.3 million unemployed Americans are set to lose their benefits with looming expiry of federal jobless benefits. The assistance for the long-term unemployed was launched in 2008 and renewed until the end of 2013.

The official unemployment rate in the US hovers around 7 percent but many economists say the true rate of joblessness is more than 20 percent.
