   Washington is leading world into lawlessness: US analyst

“US government officials routinely criticize other governments for being undemocratic and for violating human rights. Yet, no other country except Israel sends bombs, missiles, and drones into sovereign countries to murder civilian populations,” Craig Roberts said in an article published by the Global Research website.

The author noted that in addition to violating the rights of other nations, the US even violates the rights of its own citizens.

“Washington has suspended the civil liberties guaranteed in the US Constitution and [has] declared its intention to detain US citizens indefinitely without due process of law. President [Barak] Obama has announced that he, at his discretion, can murder US citizens whom he regards as a threat to the US,” he added.

According to Roberts, Washington is also forcing the rest of the world “to overthrow international treaties and international law” by issuing “a ukase that its word alone is international law.”

He stated that in its sanctions against Iran, except for countries which receive Washington’s dispensation to engage in trade with Iran, others will be cut off from US markets and will not be able to use banks that process international payments.

“In other words, Washington’s ‘sanctions against Iran’ apply not to Iran but to countries that defy Washington and meet their energy needs with Iranian oil,” the analyst added.

Roberts said by imposing such sanctions, the US is actually requiring countries to shut down their economies in order to comply with Washington’s three-decade vendetta against Iran, which is clear sign of the lawless US behavior at an international level.

He noted that the main ground for imposing such harsh sanctions against Iran is the hoax claim that Iran is building weapons of mass destruction though International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and 16 US intelligence agencies are unanimous that Iran is not doing that.

In fact, Roberts said, the US is driving up oil price, disrupting the world economy, violating international law, and risking a major war only because it is worried that a future Iranian government will make a nuclear weapon!
