Israel has fired at least a dozen shells into south Lebanon after two rockets fired from within the Lebanese border landed in northern Israel, reports say.

At least two rockets were launched on Friday from Lebanon’s southern Tyre area close to the Lebanese-Israeli border, Reuters quoted unnamed security sources as saying.

Israel responded by firing at least a dozen shells into an area of fruit plantations from wherein the rockets were allegedly fired, the Lebanese officials added.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the rocket fire which reportedly hit Galilee in Israel.

Israeli police confirmed the attack, saying they had found remnants of a Katyusha rocket in the north.

There have been no reports of casualties in Israel or Lebanon.
