Commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaeili said Saturday that the drill would be completely different from previous ones.

“This special drill will not resemble any of the air defense maneuvers held in the country to date and we hope that it will have good results for the country’s air defense units,” he added.

He stated that the country’s air defense has made considerable achievements in upgrading combat capability as well as designing, building and developing different types of advanced radar systems.

The commander said last year, Iran added several sites to its air defense network in sensitive and strategic parts of the country.

In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

The Islamic Republic has also conducted several military drills to enhance the defense capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and equipment.

Iran says its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
