Make it stop! 75 million Americans on alert and 4,400 flights are cancelled as fourth nor’easter in a month dumps up to two feet of snow on the first full day of spring

  • A nor’easter is currently battering the East Coast with snow, heavy winds and coastal flooding
  • The storm – the fourth in a month – has already dumped nearly two feet of snow in  Pennsylvania
  • The snow was forecast to ramp up in the evening, making for a dangerous evening commute
  • More than 4,400 flights were cancelled for Wednesday – mostly out of New York City-area airports

The fourth nor’easter in three weeks pushed its way up the winter-weary East Coast on Wednesday, the first full day of spring, packing high winds and heavy snow from West Virginia to New England.

Airlines canceled thousands of flights and school districts throughout the Northeast canceled classes ahead of the storm. Shore towns were warned of the possibility of coastal flooding.

Snow started falling Tuesday night in West Virginia and Kentucky and continued through Wednesday morning, while mid-Atlantic states saw a wintry mix before the precipitation changed to sticking snow.
