UK pursues Cold War scenario in Russia row: Analyst

A human rights activist says Britain has offered no transparent evidence of Russia’s involvement in the poisoning of a former spy, but continues to point the finger at Moscow to pursue its own agenda.

The issue of the expulsion of 23 Russian diplomats “is going back to an old Cold War scenario,” which is pursued by Britain, William Spring told Press TV on Thursday.

The Russian government has called for transparent evidence, but the point is that there has been “no proper investigation” by the UK, the human rights activist and political commentator noted.

As part of a series of punitive measures against Russia over the poisoning case, British Prime Minister Theresa May said on Wednesday that Britain had ordered the expulsion of 23 Russian diplomats believed to be involved in espionage-related activities.

Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations has called for proof to be presented over Moscow’s alleged involvement in the poisoning of Sergei Skripal in Britain.
