Enormous waves engulfs Venezuela and Puerto Rico – The swell is the largest to hit Puerto Rico in more than a decade, and it is generating waves bigger than those produced by Hurricane Maria
While the water disappeared in Maine and along the East coast of the USA, other parts of the world experienced totally insane swell as Bombogenesis storm Riley hit. Waves nearly 30 feet (9 meters) high from the U.S. winter storm slammed into Puerto Rico and Venezuela on March 4-5, 2018, forcing authorities to evacuate dozens of families and close roads and schools across both countries. The swell was the largest to hit Puerto Rico in more than a decade. It has generated waves bigger than those produced by Hurricane Maria when it hit nearly six months ago as a Category 4 storm.

On Monday the coastal area of Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Cuba and the United States were affected by huge waves (swell) from U.S. winter storm Riley.

The huge waves downed palm trees, knocked over cement benches and forced curious crowds to flee as saltwater flooded streets and homes along Puerto Rico’s northern and western coasts and Venezuela.
The swell also damaged several homes, boat terminal and ports. Many shops had to close as the sea flooded coastal beachs and roads. In both countries, the powerful weather phenomenon closed streets, beaches and several schools in low-lying areas.
