China tests missiles on deadly new destroyer ship in waters close to North Korea as tensions rise further

The Chinese navy’s Xining warship, which set sail into the Yellow Sea, is designed for missions including air defence and submarine warfare

The Chinese navy has tested its new missile guided destroyer ship in waters close to North Korea.

Footage published by Chinese media shows crew members launching weapons on board the fearsome new Xining warships

This is the first time the vessel’s missile systems have been tested.

The test was carried out in the Yellow Sea, which separates China and the Korean penninsular.

It comes just shortly after US vice-president Mike Pence warned the “era of strategic patience” with North Korea was over.

And North Korea retaliated by threatening to conduct missile tests on a weekly basis.

The testing of Xining by China, officially an ally of North Korea, is the latest show of strength in the region amid rising tensions.

Donald Trump ordered an “armada” to sail towards North Korea last week as he vowed to “solve” the North Korea problem with or without China’s help.

Xining was unveiled in January and boasts a deadly arsenal of weapons.
