A 60-year-old woman, a regular at Coleman’s Ribs and Tips, had just picked up an order and walked out when as many as 10 shots rang out on the street in South Austin.

The woman was hit in the leg, apparently by a bullet meant for the man next to her. He had been shot in the abdomen and leg when the gunman opened fire in the 5700 block of West Chicago Avenue around 1:45 p.m., according to police.
He was pronounced dead a few hours later, authorities said. “She was acting scared and I tried to talk to her,” said the owner of a convenience store at the corner of Chicago and Menard Avenue.
