The second, last group of militants have left on Thursday the Khan el Sheikh settlement southwest of the Syrian capital of Damascus under an agreement with the country’s authorities, a military source told RIA Novosti.
“The remainder of armed groups which held Khan el Sheikh left the region today. As was expected, most of them did not use amnesty and headed in buses to the Idlib province” the source said. On November 29, the first group of militants left the Syrian town southwest of Damascus.
The Khan el Sheikh offensive was launched by the Syrian army on October 1. Militants undertook numerous attempts to break the government forces siege throughout the several weeks of the offensive but ultimately failed despite being backed by artillery fire.
