Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki says Tehran’s recent nuclear declaration has left no chance for new sanctions to be imposed on Iran.

Mottaki said that his Turkish and Brazilian counterparts have briefed him on their negotiations about the declaration, which the three foreign ministers signed in Tehran on Monday, adding that they believed that there is no chance for a new UN Security Council resolution against Iran, the Fars news agency reported on Wednesday.

“We don’t take the developments in New York seriously because countries that support the resolution are in a minority,” Mottaki stated, referring to a draft UN Security Council resolution that was introduced by the United States on Tuesday with the aim of putting more pressure on Tehran over its nuclear program.

The declaration signed on Monday by the foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey, and Brazil commits Iran to deposit 1,200 kilograms (2,640 pounds) of low-enriched uranium in Turkey that would be exchanged for 120 kilograms of 20 percent enriched nuclear fuel for the Tehran research reactor, which produces radioisotopes for cancer treatment.

The Iranian foreign minister made the remarks in the Tajik capital Dushanbe on Wednesday, where he is attending the 37th Session of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers. The three-day meeting kicked off on May 18.

Mottaki said that the OIC foreign ministers plan to voice their support for the Tehran declaration in their final statement.
