Eight more countries of Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) might recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia after Nicaragua and Venezuela. The negotiation on the matter was the focal point of RF Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev’s visit to Bolivia.

The ALBA summit took place in Bolivia. The alliance comprises 10 members: Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Dominica, Honduras, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda. The alliance members wish to get credits from Russia in return for independence recognition.

Russia was the first country to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
